  • Equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to work as qualified translators and interpreters in specialized fields such as legal, medical, and technical translation between Arabic and English.
  • Linguistic and Cultural Proficiency:
  • Ensure that students achieve advanced proficiency in both Arabic and English, supported by a deep understanding of their cultural and social contexts.

1. Department of English Language

The department focuses on building a solid foundation in analytical, writing, and creative skills in English, making it a core hub for Western literary and expressive studies.

  • English and American literature, critical and creative writing, and applied linguistics.
  • Translation Pathways:
  • Practical training in translating literary, political, and legal texts between English and Arabic, with emphasis on the use of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.

  • Literary Theory, History of Literature, Comparative Literature, and Advanced Workshops in Academic and Creative Writing.

2. Department of Arabic Language 

The department aims to prepare specialists in Arabic language and culture who can use Arabic as a means of modern cultural expression and communication while maintaining a deep appreciation of its intellectual and civilizational heritage.

  • Mastery of Modern Standard Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking), and the study of Arab culture in its historical and social contexts within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
  • Translation Pathways:
  • Practical training in simultaneous and specialized translation (including official documents, technical, and business texts), emphasizing semantic and dialectal accuracy to ensure cultural precision in translation.
  • Core Courses:
  • Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature, History of Arab Thought, Applied Arabic Linguistics, and Media Translation.
